What is polynucleotides
Polynucleotide fragments bind to fibroblasts to switch on collagen, elastin and anti-inflammatory repair pathways. Different brands (Plinest, Ameela, Nucleofill, Vitaran) have different molecular weights for face, eyes, scalp or body.
What to look for in a doctor
- Practitioner using named, regulated brands with batch tracking.
- Correct brand for the area — under-eye, face, scalp each have specific formulations.
- A planned course of 3 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart, then maintenance.
Frequently asked
- Is it made from fish DNA?
- Yes — typically purified salmon or trout polynucleotides. Highly purified and sterile.
- Is it safe?
- Yes — used in regenerative medicine for over 20 years (including wound care). Side effects are minor.
- How is it different from Profhilo?
- Profhilo hydrates and stimulates HA. Polynucleotides repair tissue and stimulate collagen. Many patients combine both.
- Will it help under-eye dark circles?
- Yes — polynucleotides improve skin quality, thickness and pigment-related dark circles better than filler for that indication.
- How often?
- Course of 3, then maintenance every 6–9 months.
